Job summary

Rankings.io is seeking an Editorial Designer for PIM Magazine, a fully remote, independent contractor role. You will own the design from concept to final production, collaborating with the Creative Manager to set visual direction and develop feature spreads, covers, and departments.

You'll apply deep editorial design expertise—typography, pacing, hierarchy, imagery—and deliver print-ready files, with strong English communication and ability to collaborate across time zones.

Qualifications

• Portfolio required; share 3–5 work examples.
• 5+ years of professional graphic design experience, with editorial/publication focus.
• A portfolio demonstrating strong magazine/long-form publication work.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign.
• Strong working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Exceptional typography, composition, hierarchy, and layout skills.
• Experience taking publications from concept through final print production.

Responsibilities

• Own the design of PIM Magazine from concept through final production.
• Develop visual direction for each issue with the Creative Manager.
• Translate editorial concepts into compelling visual experiences.
• Design covers, feature stories, departments, openings, and contents.
• Create visual hierarchy through typography, imagery, and layout.
• Maintain consistency while evolving the magazine’s visual language.
• Build and maintain InDesign files, grids, master pages, and style systems.
• Manage revisions and ensure print-ready output with bleeds and color profiles.
• Collaborate with writers, editors, marketers, photographers; present concepts.
• Meet deadlines and deliver polished publication through production.
