Job summary

Penguin Random House LLC is seeking an Assistant/Associate Editor to manage a list of licensed titles across board books, storybooks, leveled readers, chapter books and activity books. The role involves collaboration with licensors, editors and designers, with deadlines and a remote-friendly setup.

The successful candidate will have 2+ years in children’s editorial work, a passion for licensed publishing, and strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of children’s editorial experience required.
• Interest in licensed book publishing essential.
• Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and edit about 25 titles per year.
• Brainstorm new book/series ideas with licensors.
• Hire authors and edit manuscripts.
• Write title information sheets and web copy.
• Prepare licensor approvals and check embargoed materials.
• Collaborate with designers and review all stages of book development.
• Create decks for licensors and sales conferences and present titles.
