Job summary

Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA, seeks an experienced machinist/CNC programmer to operate and optimize an electron-beam welding cell under SRF Engineering. You will translate engineering drawings and customer specs into CNC/NC programs, select tool paths, and set weld parameters for each job while maintaining logs and safety compliance.

Qualifications

9+ years of expert machinist and CNC programming experience.
High School Diploma or GED required; higher education optional.
CAM software experience and ability to translate drawings into programs.

Responsibilities

Develop CNC/NC programs for electron-beam welding cell based on drawings and specs.
Manage vacuum chamber pump-down and beam parameter setup to meet joint requirements.
Maintain weld logs and traceability in compliance with safety standards.
Program development, debugging, and process optimization to reduce defects.
