Job summary

LMI is seeking an Electrical/Firmware Engineer to design, develop, test, and optimize firmware for embedded DoD IoT devices and sensors. You’ll work with hardware teams on wireless designs, implement control for RF modules, and ensure secure, compliant firmware across rugged environments.

Strong experience with RTOS, Embedded Linux, and communication protocols is required. This remote role includes occasional travel to Tysons, VA and CONUS locations, with a focus on mission-ready hardware.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of firmware/electrical design for embedded systems in IoT or mission-critical environments.
  • Experience with RTOS, embedded Linux, and device drivers.
  • Hands-on with Bluetooth, LoRa, LTE and other wireless protocols.
  • Ability to debug and validate firmware in hardware environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and optimize firmware for embedded systems.
  • Collaborate with hardware teams on wireless embedded designs.
  • Implement firmware control for RF modules and sensors.
  • Ensure firmware security and compliance with MIL-STD, FIPS, FCC.
  • Maintain version control and support field testing.
