Job summary

Everforth ECS is seeking an Embedded Firmware Engineer to join the RPL team in Chantilly, VA. Design, develop, and maintain firmware for hardware products, collaborating with hardware, software, and product teams to deliver high-performance solutions.

You will write C/C++ code, implement tests, optimize for power and memory, and support bring-up of new platforms. Domestic/international travel up to 15% is required, and a DoD security clearance is needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming.
• Experience with microcontrollers and embedded systems (bare-metal and RTOS).
• Familiarity with SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and USB interfaces.
• Experience with debugging tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies).
• Understanding of memory management, interrupts, and real-time constraints.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills; able to read schematics.
• Effective communication and teamwork; willingness to learn from seniors.
• Ability to obtain/maintain US DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and debug firmware for embedded systems and microcontrollers.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system architecture and interfaces.
• Write clean, efficient C/C++ code and maintainable firmware.
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and system validation tests.
• Optimize firmware for performance, memory, and power consumption.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in embedded systems and field deployments.
• Contribute to code reviews and maintain thorough technical documentation.
• Support bring-up and validation of new hardware platforms.
• Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally for installations and testing.
