Job summary

Applied Research Solutions is seeking an Information System Security Engineer (ISSE) to help develop and security-harden a DevSecOps cloud environment in alignment with DoD RMF and CMMC 2.0. The role includes supporting A&A activities, maintaining continuous ATO, coordinating with governance, and guiding engineering teams while communicating with government stakeholders.

Qualifications

• US citizen.
• Active Secret security clearance.
• 3+ years of cybersecurity engineering experience supporting DoD, federal, or regulated environments – eMASS experience is a requirement.
• Hands-on experience with Azure security tools, including Microsoft Defender suite, Sentinel, Purview, and Azure Policy.
• Strong knowledge of FedRAMP requirements and implementations.
• Deep understanding of DoD RMF, NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5 controls, and security assessment/evidence requirements.
• Experience implementing CMMC 2.0 or NIST SP 800-171 controls, including documentation, continuous monitoring, and audit readiness.
• Proficiency in vulnerability management tools, remediation processes, and risk-based prioritization.
• Familiarity with threat intelligence platforms, adversary TTP analysis, and building threat-informed security detections.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement information security policies and procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability testing.
• Monitor and respond to security incidents and threats.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Manage security audits and assessments.
• Develop and deliver security awareness training to employees.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends and technologies.
• Maintain working relationships with the ISO, AO, SCA, and other IS cybersecurity engineers.
• Other duties as assigned.
