Job summary

UnityPoint Health seeks a Documentation & Coding Analyst to develop and implement an education program that improves documentation and coding across the organization. The Analyst will audit training tools and act as a liaison among providers, clinical staff and coders.

Candidates with 3 years of coding experience and surgical/wound CPT knowledge are encouraged to apply. This remote role serves staff across the UnityPoint footprint in Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• AAS Degree in Health Information Management preferred.
• Three (3) years of coding experience required.
• AHIMA or AAPC coding certification within 12 months of start date preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Documentation Review & Reporting: assess documentation for compliance with coding guidelines; validate documentation with charges; identify opportunities for improvement and provide coaching.
• Clinical Coding Research & Education: develop and deliver coding education; update newsletters and reference materials; support coding/billing staff.
• Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management guidelines; protect patient information; attend department meetings and monitor workflow.
