Job summary

ICF Olson is seeking a Distribution Planning Engineer to perform computer-based models and power system studies for electric utilities. This role involves analyzing long-range planning, short circuit, load flow, and DER impacts, while coordinating with internal teams and clients from a home office.

The ideal candidate has an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree and 2+ years of distribution planning experience, with proficiency in CYME, Synergi, Windmil, ETAP, or equivalent software, and

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-certified college or university.
• 2+ years of experience in distribution planning, operations, and electrical engineering system studies such as hosting capacity analysis, contingency analysis, long term capital investment studies, and model validation.
• Experience using power flow analysis software such as CYME, Synergi, Windmil, ETAP, or other equivalent software packages.

Responsibilities

• Interface with other engineers in preparing computer-based models and performing power system studies for distribution systems and DER impacts.
• Conduct steady-state load flows, reliability, and contingency analyses; evaluate protection schemes and coordination.
• Recommend solutions and best practices for standard and non-standard situations; perform detailed engineering analyses following established criteria.
