Job summary

TWG Engineering, part of The Will Group, seeks a Distribution Designer to develop and draft electrical distribution designs for overhead and underground projects up to 34kV. You will work with engineers, PMs, and field teams to transform field data into construction-ready designs, perform calculations, and ensure compliance with standards.

The role offers mostly remote work with occasional in-office responsibilities and travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field is required.
• 3+ years of electrical distribution design experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of electrical distribution systems and power flow.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS platforms.
• Familiarity with pole loading analysis tools is beneficial.
• Knowledge of NESC standards, easements, and permitting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and draft electrical distribution design packages for overhead and underground projects.
• Prepare design sketches, estimates, BOMs, and other project deliverables.
• Perform distribution design calculations including voltage drop and pole loading.
• Conduct pole loading analyses using PoleForeman, SPIDAcalc, O-Calc, or PLS-CADD.
• Apply NESC and utility standards to project designs.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field teams to validate data.
• Conduct occasional site visits and inspections of facilities.
• Coordinate easements, ROW, permitting, vegetation management, and outages.
• Develop technical reports, client presentations, and visual materials.
• Support QA, maintain consistency, and share knowledge with the team.
