Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Distinguished Engineer to lead architectural direction and hands-on implementation across risk technology, AI, and cloud platforms. You will mentor engineers, drive non-functional excellence, and partner with AML/Sanctions teams to deliver real-time risk solutions.

You’ll craft modern tech strategies, contribute to critical repos, and influence across engineering and product communities while maintaining high standards of performance, scalability, and operability.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required.
7+ years in software engineering and solution architecture.
5+ years in Cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP).
5+ years in Data architecture incl. Event Driven/Real-Time architectures.
10+ years of software engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

Articulate and evangelize a bold technical vision for embedding AI in the developer lifecycle.
Decompose complex problems into practical operational solutions and ensure design quality.
Mentor engineers and lead through practical technical leadership and reviews.
Develop full stack applications spanning frontend and backend with a product engineering mindset.
