Job summary

NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance seeks a Disability Analyst 2 to review disability benefit claims under Title II and Title XVI. You will evaluate complex medical and vocational information to determine eligibility and prepare detailed analyses explaining the evidence that led to decisions.

The role may include face-to-face or telephone interviews with claimants, administrators, physicians, and other experts, and may involve telecommuting up to 50% in accordance with OTDA policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in one of the specified fields; or a bachelor's in any field with two years adjudicating claims under Title II and XVI; or substitutions: master's for one year, doctorate for two years.

Responsibilities

• Review individual claims for disability benefits under Title II and Title XVI; evaluate basis from medical reports and vocational info; interview claimants and others to clarify issues; prepare a detailed written analysis explaining evidence and decision.
