Job summary

Energy Solutions seeks a Director of Solar Outreach and Market Strategy to lead the Illinois DERs solar program, overseeing outreach, partnerships, and strategic growth. Based in Chicago preferred, but U.S.-based remote candidates may apply and travel quarterly to Chicago.

The role requires strong leadership, client management, and deep knowledge of solar markets and incentive programs. The position emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with software, finance, and operations to align goals

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience with program implementation and growth.
• At least 12 years total work experience with 5+ years leadership of multigenerational teams.
• Familiarity with the North American solar market, ideally Illinois focus.
• Experience leading contract negotiations and client management.
• Strong financial acumen and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of a large solar program outreach team to achieve goals and client satisfaction.
• Coordinate with information systems team to develop and maintain software for programs.
• Monitor program performance metrics, budgets, timelines, risks; address bottlenecks proactively.
• Stay current on energy codes, incentive programs, and emerging technologies to inform decisions.
• Review and approve client deliverables, proposals, and reports to ensure high standards.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team and manage staff performance and development.
• Foster cross-functional coordination and effective internal communications.
