Job summary

Optum is seeking a Director, Pharmacy Value Economics to lead national forecasting, value measurement, and governance across rebate programs and manufacturer-funded initiatives. This role partners with finance, actuary, and analytics to deliver enterprise-level recommendations that balance affordability, access, and sustainable value.

The position will evolve to expand beyond rebates, supporting total cost of care, affordability programs, and value-driven product initiatives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in healthcare, pharmacy, managed care, or related finance roles.
• 5+ years of people leadership experience.
• Experience developing or applying healthcare, pharmacy, reimbursement, affordability, or drug economics methodologies.
• Experience building forecasts, economic evaluation frameworks, value measurement methodologies, and executive business cases.
• Experience designing or overseeing claims, utilization, financial, or economic data models for scalable forecasting.
• Experience measuring financial performance, forecast accuracy, budget variance, value capture, and revenue leakage.
• Experience translating complex data into executive insights and strategic recommendations.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with senior leaders and influence decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own the pharmacy value economics framework, governance, financial performance standards, and value realization reporting.
• Lead national forecasting methodologies for rebate revenue, value programs, and market expansion initiatives.
• Develop financial models and executive business cases supporting strategic planning and affordability initiatives.
• Manage executive dashboards, KPIs, and value reporting for senior leadership decisions.
• Identify revenue leakage and opportunities across rebate and manufacturer-funded programs and prioritize improvements.
• Monitor industry trends, biosimilar adoption, reimbursement changes, and regulatory developments.
• Lead a high-performing forecasting and analytics team, establish priorities and development plans.
