Job summary

Author Health is a remote-first healthcare company revolutionizing mental health care. We seek a Director, Financial Controller to own accounting operations, the general ledger, month-end close, revenue recognition, and the annual audit.

You will partner with Finance leadership to build repeatable processes and scalable reporting as the company grows. We value a hands-on leader with strong GAAP knowledge, experience in high-growth health care, and the ability to professionalize the function

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• Eight+ years of related accounting experience.
• Strong written and oral presentation skills with influencing abilities.
• Experience with fast-paced, growing companies.
• Knowledge of Business Central and Looker preferred.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own the general ledger, month-end close, and accuracy of financial statements.
• Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls with repeatable steps.
• Own revenue recognition across multiple streams with documented processes.
• Ensure structured, reconciled financial reporting across systems and tools.
• Lead annual budget and forecast; report variances and build dashboards.
• Provide financial analysis for capital investments, pricing, and contracts.
• Oversee audit readiness and primary contact for the annual audit.
• Manage third‑party payroll provider relationship.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
• Build and mentor an accounting function aligned to scalable processes.
