Job summary

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Director of Manufacturing Systems to lead scale‑up of manufacturing across internal and external sites, accountable for capacity, delivery, and cost. The role reports to the VP of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering and is remote with a preference for East Coast or Midwest locations.

The candidate will design production standards, lead make‑vs‑buy decisions, and drive digital and AI technologies to improve performance while building a strong team across

Qualifications

• Extensive manufacturing leadership in Aerospace/Defense or similar complex environments.
• Experience delivering operational and financial impact across sites.
• Proven capacity modeling, value stream mapping, and time‑and‑motion studies.
• Experience building business cases for capital and footprint decisions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ramp-ups and margin expansion across production sites by standardizing requirements and layouts.
• Own the division's footprint strategy and insourcing/make‑vs‑buy decisions.
• Develop production standards, capacity models, and process changes for scale‑up.
• Collaborate to balance lines, reduce bottlenecks, and optimize material flows.
• Lead continuous improvement programs with leaders across Mission Technologies.
• Drive automation, digital, and AI deployments with business cases.
• Build and develop teams for time studies, value streams, and waste reduction.
• Lead change management with data, collaboration, and executive support.
