Job summary

Stanford Health Care is seeking a Director of General Accounting to lead core accounting functions, drive the month-end close, and oversee analytics initiatives within the Controller's Office. The role partners with leadership and IT to implement AI-enabled technologies and Power BI analytics while strengthening internal controls and scalable reporting.

The position directs capital and fixed asset accounting, post-award grant accounting, and intercompany activities, with a focus on process

Qualifications

• Eight or more years of progressively responsible accounting experience with management responsibility.
• Healthcare finance or healthcare accounting experience preferred.
• CPA - Certified Public Accountant

Responsibilities

• Directs and oversees the month-end close process for assigned functional areas including capital and fixed assets, prepaids, non-payroll accruals, intercompany and shared services accounting, and post-award grant accounting.
• Oversees journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and variance analyses to ensure GAAP compliance and timely close.
• Reviews reporting deliverables for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance.
• Leads complex financial analyses, operational trends, and budget vs actual reporting for senior management.
• Develops accounting analytics, dashboards, KPIs, and tools to improve visibility and reporting.
• Supports annual financial statement audits and responds to audit inquiries.
• Drives automation and BI adoption to enhance financial reporting and decision-making.
• Collaborates with IT and operations to implement AI-enabled solutions and standardized data governance.
