Job summary

Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) in New York City seeks a Director of Community Capital Investments. This role leads a team to source affordable housing and economic development transactions across NYC and NY State, coordinating with city and state agencies and LISC affiliates.

The position requires deep experience in lending, underwriting, and deal structuring, plus strong relationship management with public, private, and nonprofit partners. Remote work options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 Years of experience in lending, finance, community development or related field, with demonstrated underwriting and financial analysis.
• Familiarity with NYC and New York State markets and financing programs, including bond and tax credit financing.
• Knowledge of financing products such as predevelopment, acquisition, construction, bridge and permanent loans; lines of credit; and tax credit financing.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex transactions with internal and external parties to meet approvals and closings.
• Commitment to the community development sector and nonprofit organizations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse sectors and stakeholders.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work independently on multiple tasks.
• Excellent writing, financial analysis and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Community Capital Investments team in structuring, negotiating, and originating a strong pipeline of affordable housing and economic development transactions.
• Cultivate partnerships and funding opportunities to secure additional capital resources for LISC NY.
• Manage key relationships with public and private sector partners and government entities.
• Co-lead development, management and tracking of the investment pipeline and underwriting guidance.
• Underwrite transactions involving predevelopment, acquisition, construction, bridge and permanent loans, LIHTC and related financing.
• Present loan recommendations to LISC’s credit committee and perform credit analysis.
• Collaborate with developers, attorneys, lenders and agencies to close transactions.
• Provide technical assistance to partners to develop viable projects and financing strategies.
• Prepare reports and findings for investors and funders.
