Job summary

Illumina seeks a Director of Clinical Bioinformatics based in the U.S. to lead informatics for end-to-end assay and application solutions. The role requires driving innovative algorithms on the DRAGEN platform and managing multi-disciplinary teams to advance precision medicine.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in regulated LDTs/IVD environments, and a proven ability to deliver major projects from concept to market. Travel to San Diego is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 18+ years of related experience, with 10+ years of management experience.
• Proven track record leading major multi-disciplinary product development projects from concept to commercial release.
• Extensive experience developing bioinformatics algorithms for NGS and microarray across oncology, genetics, and reproductive health.
• Broad experience building regulated LDTs, distributed IVD products, or regulated instrument systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead bioinformatics for design, delivery, and validation of end-to-end assay and application solutions.
• Innovate to deliver high-value solutions for precision medicine and multi-omics applications.
• Design and implement novel bioinformatics algorithms on the DRAGEN platform.
• Build and manage relationships with external customers, partners, and key opinion leaders; represent Illumina externally.
• Develop programs to monitor and respond to competitive technologies.
