Job summary

CorpsAfrica is seeking a Digital Communications Intern to join our Global Support Office team. This paid, remote internship offers hands-on experience in graphic design, social media, and nonprofit communications while contributing to global channels.

You'll collaborate with the Digital Media Manager and staff across country offices, using Canva or similar tools to create on-brand visuals and digital content. Duration: 3 months, with potential extension.

Qualifications

• Degree or advanced coursework in graphic design, communications, marketing, digital media, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience creating quality graphics and communications materials through internships, employment, consulting, freelance, volunteer, or other relevant work.
• Strong proficiency in Canva and demonstrated graphic design skills; experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
• Experience creating engaging social media and digital content for an organization, business, or client.
• Experience with basic video editing and short-form video content.
• Strong visual, writing, and copyediting skills, with excellent attention to detail and brand consistency.
• Strong interest in nonprofit communications, African affairs, or international development.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to take creative direction and feedback and translate it effectively into high-quality work.
• Ability to work independently and take a project from concept to completion, while managing multiple assignments and meeting deadlines.
• Strong, hands-on graphic design skills are required; Candidates should be able to create original graphics independently using tools such as Canva, without relying on generative AI. AI-generated artwork submitted as part of a portfolio is strongly discouraged, as the portfolio should demonstrate the candidate’s own design skills, creativity, and ability to produce original visual work.

Responsibilities

• Create on-brand graphics for social media, websites, email, presentations, events, print materials, and fundraising campaigns using pre-approved templates and brand guidelines.
• Design promotional materials for print, web, and digital use, including infographics, social media graphics, flyers, and one-pagers.
• Assist with editing and adapting content for CorpsAfrica’s social media platforms, including graphics, photos, short-form video, and copy.
• Assist with scheduling social media content and monitoring comments and inboxes, escalating questions or issues to the appropriate team.
• Review and select relevant stories, photos, and other content from CorpsAfrica country offices for use on global social media channels.
• Create mockups and visual concepts for CorpsAfrica merchandise and promotional materials.
• Help organize and maintain a central library of communications assets, including logos, templates, photos, videos, and other digital files.
• Support the Digital Media Manager and other Communications staff with routine design, content production, and other communications projects as assigned.
