Job summary

PowerLines is seeking a Director of Development to design and implement a major donor fundraising program and scale philanthropy from startup to multi‑million impact. You will partner with leadership to secure significant gifts and build a robust donor pipeline, with travel up to 30% as needed.

The role requires 8+ years in fundraising, a track record with family foundations, DAFs, and HNW donors, and strong donor stewardship, grant writing, and strategic thinking capabilities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of fundraising experience with six- and seven-figure gifts from family foundations, family offices, DAFs, and HNW individuals.
• Experience fundraising within energy, consumer advocacy, democracy, or public policy spaces is a plus.
• Strong relationships with funders and ability to manage significant donor portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead Fundraising Strategy focusing on family foundations, family offices, DAFs, and HNW individuals.
• Lead generation, cultivation, and donor meetings; convert wins into fundraising opportunities.
• Manage stewardship, renewal of donor support, and develop briefing materials and impact reports.
• Lead development of grant proposals and oversee lifecycle with the Founder/Executive Director.
• Build scalable development infrastructure and onboard fundraising staff as needed.
