Dropzone AI is seeking a Senior/Principal Detection Engineer to shape the future of AI-driven security operations. This senior-to-principal role combines deep detection engineering with innovation and customer impact, reporting to the R&D leadership.

You will lead detection engineering, work with product and engineering teams to draft and tune detection content, and advance AI-assisted security workflows while not performing hands-on customer work.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in detection engineering.
• Extensive experience with two or more major SIEM platforms (e.g., Sentinel, Splunk, QRadar).
• Strong understanding of endpoint, cloud, identity, network, and SaaS telemetry.
• Expertise in MITRE ATT&CK, adversary emulation, and detection coverage analysis.
• Experience building high-fidelity detections at scale.
• Excellent communication skills with practitioners, executives, and customers.
• Startup mindset; thrive in ambiguity and rapid execution.

Responsibilities

• Prototype and improve AI-assisted detection content across diverse security environments.
• Design scoring rubrics for AI-generated detection content for SIEM/EDR/NDR/cloud/identity/SaaS.
• Lead development of detection content and tuning practices; ensure quality and lifecycle management.
• Stay current on emerging threats and attacker techniques; conduct original threat detection research.
• Develop novel approaches for AI-assisted threat detection; collaborate with R&D and product teams.
• Partner with engineering to encode detection knowledge into the product.
