Job summary

Relief International is seeking a Desk Director to provide strategic oversight for a portfolio of country programmes with an annual value of around $60 million. You will manage Country Directors and a Desk Team, ensuring program quality, donor engagement, and risk management across multiple contexts.

You will collaborate with senior leaders to align operations with donor requirements, strategy, and organizational sustainability, while navigating complex humanitarian environments.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a relevant field.
• Significant senior leadership experience in humanitarian/development contexts.
• Experience managing donor-funded portfolios and multi-country programs.
• Strong understanding of donor requirements and program quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for multiple country programs within a $60M portfolio.
• Directly line manage Country Directors and the Desk Manager.
• Oversee program quality, operations, finance, compliance and security.
• Manage donor engagement, risk management and organizational sustainability.
• Coordinate with Finance, HR, Security, Awards Management and Technical teams.
• Lead proposal development and donor submissions, ensuring alignment with priorities.
• Drive risk mitigation and foster cross-country collaboration and learning.
• Contribute to organizational strategy and continuous improvement.
• Support regional growth and partnership strengthening.
