Job summary

Multiplayer is seeking a Senior Design Technology Lead to unite our design and engineering practice across client projects. You will guide a growing team, align with a sister development company in Bulgaria, and shape the department's direction while maintaining high standards of quality and collaboration.

You will write clean HTML/CSS/JS/React, evaluate AI-assisted tools, and lead frontend architecture decisions. The role emphasizes culture, mentorship, and cross-functional partnership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of full-time industry experience in design technology or a closely related discipline, with at least 2 years in a people manager role.
• A portfolio or work samples we can access.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.
• Must have a minimum 3-hour overlap with Toronto EDT timezone.

Responsibilities

• Shape how our team works, staying sharp on industry trends and continuously improving tools and processes.
• Coach direct reports on goal setting and growth using empathy and encouragement.
• Build a team culture where engineers and designers collaborate effectively to deliver strong work.
• Maintain code quality across HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React and set engineering standards.
• Evaluate and deploy AI-assisted development tools when appropriate, balancing speed with human judgment.
• Lead frontend architecture decisions including component structure, state management, and QA standards.
• Create rapid prototypes and explorations using suitable tools, including hardware/software integrations.
• Champion design systems at token/variable level and maintain consistent component libraries.
• Collaborate closely with sister dev company to align on standards and timelines.
• Serve as the technical thought partner to designers, strategists, and clients, scoping effort and flagging risk early.
• Lead project planning across multiple engagements, managing workstreams, resourcing, risk, and scope.
