Job summary

Symetra Investment Management is seeking an Investment Operations Analyst to support the derivatives trade lifecycle, confirmations, settlements, and collateral management. The role involves collaboration across portfolio managers, traders, and risk teams, with heavy emphasis on automation and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-5 years of cumulative, relevant experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail while being analytically oriented.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Occasional nights and weekends will be required.
  • Candidate should look at policies/processes to provide improvements and automation.
  • Strong technology focus and ability to use tech to automate repetitive tasks.
  • Bloomberg or other trade order management system experience.
  • Simcorp Dimension or other investment accounting system experience.
  • Good Excel skills.
  • Previous experience with investments including fixed income, alternative assets, loans and/or derivatives.
  • PowerBI or similar reporting application.

Responsibilities

  • Support the derivative trade lifecycle (capture, allocations, settlements, lifecycle events).
  • Manage derivative confirmations, ensure timely confirmations and processing.
  • Coordinate derivative settlements (pre-settlement confirmation, wire booking, post-settlement monitoring).
  • Oversee collateral and margin activities (margin calls, movements, substitutions, returns, reclaims, disputes).
  • Perform reconciliations and resolve breaks across systems, custodians, counterparties, and accounting records.
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers, traders, counterparties, brokers, custodians, accounting, risk, compliance, and tech teams.
  • Support derivatives reporting, audits, and documentation for stakeholders.
  • Provide client support on derivatives inquiries with accurate information.
