Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to support the Project Manager in planning, coordination, and execution of VA initiatives, including VistA transition and EHR modernization. The role is fully remote within the United States, with standard business hours ET and periodic weekend support during deployments.

The ideal candidate will bring senior program management experience in federal civilian agencies, excellent communication, and the ability to translate strategy into actionable plans

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 15+ years of work experience required.
• 10 years can substitute for degree.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed teams.
• Experience with agile environments desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager in day-to-day program execution and governance.
• Coordinate activities across SMEs, data analysts, writers, and stakeholders.
• Translate requirements into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
• Monitor scope, schedule, risks, and resources across multiple initiatives.
• Develop executive briefings, status reports, and project plans.
• Maintain documentation and drive items to closure.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
• Serve as trusted advisor and align leadership on progress.
