Job summary

BECU is seeking a Recovery Specialist to help recover charged-off funds while protecting members' financial well-being. You’ll balance member service with compliant recovery strategies and build relationships with attorneys, agencies, and internal partners.

The role requires experience in collections, knowledge of FDCPA, and a strong attention to detail. It includes a remote component with quarterly on-site meetings in Tukwila, WA, and regular hours 8:00 AM–6:00 PM PST, Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• 5+ years of customer service experience, including 3 years in collections.
• Knowledge of FDCPA and related collection laws required.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to work independently and make sound judgments.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate settlements on charged-off accounts with debtors and attorneys.
• Apply knowledge of collection laws to guide compliant recovery efforts.
• Monitor and document status of accounts in the collection system.
• Maintain proactive communication and timely follow-up on accounts.
• Locate debtors using skip-tracing and available resources.
• Coordinate with agencies and vendors to optimize recovery results.
• Ensure accurate records and regulatory compliance in all actions.
