Job summary

Owision is seeking an experienced Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) to own the reliability, performance, scalability, and automation of our MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle fleets across on-premises and multi-cloud platforms (AWS, OCI, Azure).

Operating at the intersection of DBA, SRE, and Platform Engineering, you will treat databases as code, eliminate toil, and build self-healing, highly available, observable data platforms powering mission-critical services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on DBRE/SRE/DBA experience in large-scale production environments.
• Strong SRE discipline with SLOs/SLIs and incident handling.
• Deep knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL internals and Oracle core basics.

Responsibilities

• Define, monitor, and enforce SLOs, SLIs, and SLAs for DB availability and latency.
• Architect and validate HA configurations, replication, and automated failover.
• Lead database incident response, on-call participation, and RCAs.
• Design, test, and implement DR/BC plans with target RPO/RTO.
• Automate provisioning, scaling, patches, backups, and zero-downtime migrations.
• Build DBaaS self-service tools and CI/CD pipelines for engineering teams.
• Perform deep query optimization and engine-level tuning (InnoDB, autovacuum, AWR/ASH).
• Develop end-to-end monitoring with PMM, Grafana, Datadog, CloudWatch, Zabbix.
• Enforce security: encryption, RBAC, auditing, and data governance.
