Zusammenfassung

ClickHouse Labs seeks a Research Scientist to tackle high-impact problems at the intersection of database systems, distributed systems, AI, and systems software. You will work on queries, execution engines, and scaling for ClickHouse and PostgreSQL, turning ideas into robust implementations.

You’ll publish work, contribute to open-source projects, and collaborate with engineers to shape long-term research directions in a global, remote-friendly team.

Qualifikationen

• Masters/Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field with research in databases or systems.
• Strong publication record in leading venues such as SIGMOD, VLDB, SOSP, OSDI, NSDI, or NeurIPS.
• Experience with database internals or large systems codebases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, ClickHouse).
• Proficiency in systems programming languages such as C, C++, Rust, or Zig.
• Strong analytical, experimental, and technical communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Conduct applied research to advance performance, scalability, reliability, and functionality of open-source DBMSs.
• Design and evaluate new algorithms, data structures, and system architectures for query optimization and distribution.
• Develop production-grade prototypes and work with engineers to integrate techniques into systems.
• Collaborate with engine, infrastructure, and data-plane engineers to solve high-impact problems.
• Analyze large-scale workloads, traces, benchmarks to identify bottlenecks and opportunities.
• Design rigorous experiments and benchmarks across realistic environments.
