Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a Database Engineer to design, implement, and optimize SQL server and database solutions to support Veterans Affairs operational needs. The role leads database architecture, resolves advanced issues, and drives performance enhancements.

This position will be fully remote located within the United States. You will design robust data structures, implement secure backups, and ensure data integrity while collaborating with stakeholders to deliver scalable, API-enabled data access

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field with 12 years of experience.
• Strong knowledge of relational database theory and SQL.
• Experience with low-code automation tools (SharePoint, PowerBI, Jira/Confluence).
• Expertise designing and optimizing data structures for storage and analysis.
• Ability to write efficient SQL queries for data retrieval and manipulation.
• Experience managing SQL/Oracle or other data management systems.
• Experience configuring/integrating platform APIs.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new tools quickly and work with stakeholders.

• Manages database security through user roles and permissions.
• Creates backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity.
