Job summary

Porta Strategies is seeking a data scientist for a federal government analytics program focusing on fraud detection, AI, and investigative support. The role involves handling large datasets, building ML models, and delivering executive-ready visualizations.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in predictive analytics, NLP, and cloud environments, plus strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders. U.S.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in data science or related field; 5+ years in predictive analytics.
• Proficiency in Python, Pandas, SQL; regression/classification; clustering/anomaly detection; ML model development.
• Minimum 2 years NLP experience; ability to present findings to technical and non-technical audiences; cloud experience (Azure/AWS/GCP).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy advanced statistical and machine learning models.
• Develop supervised and unsupervised analytical solutions to identify fraud, improper payments, anomalies, and program risks.
• Analyze large structured and unstructured datasets using modern analytical techniques.
• Apply NLP and AI methodologies to extract insights from complex text data.
• Develop dashboards, visualizations, and executive-level reporting products.
• Collaborate with investigators, auditors, SMEs, and stakeholders to support analytical objectives.
• Present findings and recommendations to technical and executive audiences.
• Develop and maintain documentation supporting analytical methodologies and model development.
• Support continuous improvement of existing analytical tools, models, and processes.
