Job summary

Babcock International is seeking a Data Scientist to apply AI, ML, forecasting and analytics across defence transformation challenges. You will work remotely with regular visits to our UK sites, turning telematics and operational data into business insights that support readiness and availability.

The role requires a degree in a data-related field and the ability to achieve Security Check clearance. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and clear communication of results are essential.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python and SQL with ability to analyse large datasets.
• Strong background in machine learning, forecasting and statistical analysis.
• Experience delivering data-driven solutions that improve operations or business performance.
• Ability to communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience collaborating in multidisciplinary teams in engineering, logistics, defence, or asset-intensive environments.

Responsibilities

• Build predictive models for maintenance optimisation and asset management decisions.
• Develop ML and forecasting solutions to improve equipment availability and readiness.
• Transform complex operational data into actionable insights.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, digital and operations teams to solve business challenges with data science.
• Present findings and recommendations to diverse stakeholders.
