Job summary

Superhuman seeks a Data Scientist embedded in the Mail team to shape feature strategy, prioritization, and experiments with evidence that drives activation, engagement, and retention.

You’ll partner with PMs, engineers, and ML teams to define metrics, run experiments, and translate insights into concrete product improvements affecting millions of users. The role offers collaboration across data engineering, finance, and design, with direct visibility to leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data science experience
• Expertise in experimentation and causal inference (A/B, quasi-experimental methods)
• Fluent in Python and SQL with strong data manipulation skills
• Strong statistics and machine learning applications for product and growth
• Ability to translate business questions into sound experimental designs and metrics
• Influence cross-functional partners and communicate insights clearly
• Self-starting, creative problem-solver comfortable with ambiguity
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field; advanced degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Be the embedded data science partner for the Mail core product team — shaping feature strategy, prioritization, and roadmap decisions with evidence
• Define and own the metrics that matter for Mail: activation milestones, engagement depth, retention curves, and leading indicators of feature impact
• Design and run experiments across the Mail product lifecycle and build measurement frameworks to separate signal from noise
• Shape the measurement strategy for Mail's AI features by defining quality frameworks and behavioral metrics
• Determine what drives Mail stickiness and how activation sequences convert users to power users
• Partner with product, growth, and sales to quantify levers for expansion and surface signals predicting conversion and churn
• Use data to craft onboarding flows, feature discovery, and nudges that feel natural and effective
• Communicate findings clearly to PMs, engineers, and executives and raise the bar on data-driven decision making
