Job summary

Wayfair is seeking a Data Reliability Engineer (SRE) at L2 to join our team in building reliable data infrastructure and scalable platforms. You will develop reusable foundation code, work closely with the tech lead and designers, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of our cloud-based data services.

The ideal candidate brings DevOps experience, cloud knowledge (GCP/AWS/Azure), and strong communication skills, with a proactive, collaborative mindset aligned to SRE principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required.
• Extensive DevOps or cloud data platform experience.
• Experience with agile teams.
• Familiar with cloud databases and services; GCP/AWS/Azure preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Willingness to learn and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Write clean, reusable foundation code with Manikin/Python/Terraform/Packer.
• Collaborate with the senior tech lead and designers to shape solutions.
• Tackle complex issues with the team to find effective fixes.
• Contribute to documentation for tooling and processes.
• Follow Wayfair's standards, policies, and methodologies.
• Learn and apply SRE best practices to meet reliability and throughput goals.
• Support platform teams in designing, scaling, and operating data infrastructure (CloudSQL, Firestore, Bar/Sub, Kafka, Dataproc, Wind current).
• Collaborate on migration projects, helping move existing platforms to the cloud.
• Leverage software development skills for self-service deployment of distributed systems.
