Job summary

Crescent Electric Supply Company is seeking a Data Engineer to architect and manage data pipelines across multiple ERP systems, enabling reliable analytics and self-service reporting. You will guide SQL developers, collaborate with BI teams, and ensure data governance and security across the platform.

Responsibilities include building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, modeling data in Bronze/Silver/Gold layers, and driving platform modernization during Google Cloud migration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5-7+ years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, or database development.
• Experience supporting multi-entity or multi-ERP environments a plus.
• Strong hands-on SQL and relational DB skills; NoSQL a plus.
• Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines using SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or equivalent.
• Experience with cloud data platforms (Google Cloud, Azure, or AWS); Google Cloud experience preferred.
• Knowledge of data modeling concepts, including medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) architectures.
• Scripting/programming experience (Python or similar) for automation and data transformation a plus.
• Experience with ERP systems (Eclipse/Epicor) a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide less-experienced developers.

Responsibilities

• Pipeline Architecture & Development: Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines from source systems to the governed data platform.
• Data Modeling: Develop data models and schemas (Bronze/Silver/Gold) to establish a single source of truth.
• Platform Modernization: Lead data platform build-out for cloud migration and governance.
• AI-Enabled Engineering: Explore AI coding tools to optimize pipeline code and delivery.
• Data Quality & Governance: Embed governance and validation into pipelines and monitor data integrity.
• Technical Mentorship & Leadership: Provide indirect leadership and code-review guidance to the data team.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with DBAs, BI developers, and stakeholders to translate requirements.
• Documentation: Maintain clear docs of data flows and architecture.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure pipelines meet data handling and security standards.
