Job summary

Arden University is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to shape and evolve the data platform, enabling analysts, data scientists and engineers to work efficiently with modern cloud data technologies. You will help develop a scalable data lake and medallion architecture, guiding the use of Power BI and Microsoft Fabric to maximise data value across the university.

Qualifications

• Experience with big data technologies and ecosystems like Synapse, Fabric, Databricks, Hadoop, Spark and Kafka.
• Proficiency in Python, R or SQL for data engineering tasks.
• Strong SQL/NoSQL DB design knowledge.
• Understanding ETL design and data lifecycle management.
• Familiarity with Data Factory, Airflow or similar data pipeline tools.
• Knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps practices and Git version control.
• Excellent ability to communicate complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven track record delivering business value through data and analytics.

Responsibilities

• Shape and evolve Arden University's data platform for better student outcomes.
• Develop and optimise the data lake and medallion architecture.
• Guide use of cloud data tech including Power BI and Fabric.
• Contribute to forward-looking data platform strategy and enable analysts, data scientists and engineers to work efficiently.
• Identify opportunities where data platform improvements deliver impact and coach wider data team.
