Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a Data Modeling Engineer (Security Architect - Consultant) for Cribl-based data modeling and log ingestion across enterprise security. The role collaborates with a large security team and supports SIEM/XDR, vulnerability management, and DLP initiatives.

Remote work is allowed nationwide; CJIS certification is part of ongoing employment. The contract spans 12 months with potential for extension, and an on-call roster is required.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining Cribl data modeling for log ingestion.
• Strong enterprise security architecture and engineering knowledge.
• Experience with SIEM, XDR, vulnerability management, and DLP.
• Automation and scripting in Python and Bash.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and threat detection.
• Linux and Windows OS hardening and security configuration.
• Understanding of networking and secure system design.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, deploy, and support enterprise security platforms, including Cribl data modeling and log ingestion.
• Support SIEM, XDR, vulnerability management, and DLP deployments.
• Collaborate with security architects to design and implement enterprise security solutions that align with leadership's business goals.
• Design, deploy and manage countermeasures to address known security threats and mitigate emerging threats.
• Ensure consistent application of security controls across enterprise infrastructure and applications; validate control effectiveness.
• Support incident detection and response through monitoring, log analysis and reporting.
• Develop technical documentation, implementation guides and standard operating procedures.
• Perform other duties in support of the Division of Information Security.
