Job summary

Penn Interactive is seeking a Data Engineering Lead to direct the data engineering team across data pipelines, architecture, and cloud platforms. You will partner with Data Services, Analytics Engineering, Product, and Business stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality data solutions for regulated environments.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in data leadership and 5+ years in software/data development, with experience leading teams of 3 engineers or more and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in a data-oriented leadership or management role,
• combined with at least 5 years of software/data development
• Experience leading teams of 3 engineers or more
• Experience in a regulated industry strongly encouraged
• Demonstrated time management, project management and problem solving skills, familiar with Agile tools
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse stakeholders
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization
• Ability to delegate and build teams with strong teamwork skills
• Experience with data pipelines and workflow management tools like Airflow, DBT, AWS Lambda

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day activities of the data engineering team with mentorship and performance feedback
• Communicate with regulators and set clear expectations
• Handle high-responsibility workstreams with strict deadlines and audits
• Collaborate with analytics, finance, compliance, and other teams to build data pipelines and tooling
• Prioritize and manage data-related projects from inception to delivery
• Assist in design and maintenance of data pipelines and architecture
• Collaborate to meet performance, scalability, and reliability goals
• Stay current with data engineering trends, techniques, and technologies
• Other duties as required
