Job summary

Frontdoor, Inc. is seeking an intermediate level Data Engineer to transform raw data into useful systems and align data architectures with business goals. You will manage projects within larger initiatives and partner with stakeholders to drive data-driven decisions.

The role emphasizes building scalable data pipelines, applying dimensional modeling, and optimizing data infrastructure in a cloud environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field; Masters or PhD preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering or similar work.
• Excellent communication and inter-personal skills.
• Versatile and quick learner capable of picking up new skills quickly.
• Demonstrated strength in data modeling, ETL development, data warehousing, data pipeline and data lake creation.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and tools for AWS and GCP.
• Demonstrable proficiency in Python development and advanced SQL querying.
• Strong ability to translate business requirements into database models and pipelines.
• Experience with visualization and reporting tools such as Looker and Tableau.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake and building data lakes in the cloud.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain complex scalable data pipelines for batch and stream processing in a cloud environment.
• Apply complex dimensional modeling to design tables and views mapping business processes into an enterprise data model.
• Optimize database architecture by trading off storage and computation for cost and performance.
• Build and support complex ETL infrastructure to deliver clean data for reporting and analytics.
• Support development of new products and services via data ingestion, processing, and formatting for reporting.
• Interact with business stakeholders, build cooperative relationships, and gain domain knowledge.
• Automate manual processes for efficiency, robustness, and speed.
• Help enforce production standards and governance for enterprise data, metrics, and reports.
• Manage projects within larger projects.
• May include other duties as assigned.
