Job summary

Applied Systems is seeking a Data Engineer - GCP, BigQuery to join our AI Engineering – Reporting and Analytics team. You will build and maintain data solutions, supporting global teams with scalable data architectures and accessible datasets.

You will collaborate with data scientists, architects, and software engineers to shape data models and governance while advancing our AI initiatives for the insurance domain.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building data solutions in cloud environments.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation.
• Strong hands-on with BigQuery and cloud-based data warehousing.
• Experience with BigQuery on Google Cloud Platform.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum) and Jira/Confluence.
• Bachelor-level degree in CS, MIS, or CIS.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Code BigQuery procedures, functions, and other database objects using BigQuery SQL and ANSI SQL.
• Model and optimize data in the data lake with a focus on BigQuery.
• Manage storage, partitioning, and clustering for performance and reliability.
• Develop features in BigQuery and cloud data warehousing technologies.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet business objectives and governance requirements.
• Create documentation to support design discussions.
• Ensure data quality with validation and error handling mechanisms.
• Identify improvements across ingestion, ETL, and reporting lifecycles.
