Job summary

LMI is seeking a talented Data Engineer to support the VA and VBA claims modernization. You will design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines spanning claims submissions, evidence management, and operational analytics to accelerate claims processing and improve data reliability.

In this hands-on role, you will work with Python, SQL, PySpark, and cloud services (AWS or Azure) to implement secure data solutions, data models, and governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of data/enterprise integration experience.
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Experience designing scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with Spark, PySpark, or similar.
• Hands-on cloud experience (AWS, Azure).
• Knowledge of relational databases and data warehousing.
• Experience integrating data via REST APIs and JSON.
• Experience with CI/CD and version control.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines for VA claims processing.
• Integrate data from VA systems and external sources using REST APIs and JSON.
• Modernize claims processing with data-driven solutions and workflow improvements.
• Leverage AWS or Azure cloud services for data processing and storage.
• Design relational and dimensional data models and data lakehouse patterns.
• Use Spark/PySpark to process large datasets and optimize queries.
• Establish automated data quality checks, monitoring, and governance.
• Build automated workflows and orchestration for batch and event-driven pipelines.
• Develop analytics-ready datasets for dashboards and Power BI reports.
• Ensure secure data handling with governance and compliance requirements.
• Apply DevSecOps practices: Git, CI/CD, IaC, automated testing.
• Collaborate with VA stakeholders to deliver production-ready data products.
• Identify opportunities to modernize legacy integrations and improve performance.
