Job summary

LMI is seeking a Data Engineer to support the VA's VBA claims modernization. You will design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines, integrating claims submissions, evidence, medical records, and workflow data to enable faster, more accurate decision-making for Veterans.

The role emphasizes secure, compliant data handling in cloud environments (AWS/Azure), pipelining and data modeling, and collaboration with VA stakeholders to deliver production-ready data products and analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, enterprise data integration, or development of production data systems.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and SQL, including developing complex queries, data transformations, automation scripts, and production data pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Data Pipeline Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• VA Claims Data Integration: Integrate data from VA systems, evidence repositories, medical records, and external sources.
• Claims Processing Modernization: Streamline intake, evidence collection, validation, routing, and downstream processing.
• Cloud Data Engineering: Develop and optimize solutions in AWS or Azure.
