LMI Consulting, LLC is seeking a Data Engineer to support VA VBA claims modernization, transforming how claims data is collected, integrated, and delivered for faster, more accurate benefits processing.

The role designs and builds scalable data pipelines using Python, SQL, PySpark and cloud services (AWS/Azure), enabling analytics, dashboards, and AI-enabled workflows while maintaining security and compliance with VA requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field or related professional experience.
• 5+ years in data engineering or production data systems.
• Strong Python and SQL with ETL/ELT expertise.
• Experience with Spark/PySpark and cloud data services.

Responsibilities

• Data Pipeline Engineering: design, build & maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines.
• VA Claims Data Integration: consolidate diverse data sources across VA systems.
• Claims Processing Modernization: streamline intake, evidence collection, and workflow routing.
• Cloud Data Engineering: leverage AWS/Azure cloud services for processing and storage.
• Data Architecture & Modeling: relational, dimensional, and lakehouse models.
• Big Data Processing: use Spark/PySpark for large-scale transformations.
• Data Quality & Governance: automated checks, lineage, and metadata management.
• Workflow Automation & Orchestration: reliable batch and event-driven pipelines.
• Analytics & AI Enablement: datasets for dashboards, Power BI, and AI workflows.
• Security & Compliance: VA security, privacy, and data minimization requirements.
• DevSecOps & Engineering Best Practices: CI/CD, testing, version control.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with VA stakeholders and engineering teams.
• Continuous Improvement: modernize legacy integrations and improve performance.
