Sentara Hospitals is hiring a fully remote Data Engineer to power a modern data platform built on Databricks. You will develop scalable pipelines with metadata-driven ingestion, embedded data quality, and governance to keep datasets trustworthy as they grow.

The role is fully remote with a Virginia Beach, VA location note and a compensation range of USD 80,204–133,681 per year. Requires 3+ years of experience and strong PySpark/Databricks skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant experience (minimum)
• Hands-on experience with PySpark and Databricks required
• Strong SQL skills and data pipeline development
• Experience with ETL/ELT patterns and data quality checks
• Familiarity with data governance concepts and metadata handling

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain data pipelines using PySpark and Databricks.
• Onboard new datasets through a metadata-driven ingestion framework.
• Build data quality checks and validation rules into pipelines.
• Support ingestion from file-based sources and tools like Fivetran.
• Collaborate with architects and stakeholders on onboarding requirements
