Job summary

Switch seeks a Special Projects Design Project Manager to lead planning, coordination, and execution of design activities for special projects. You will manage design from concept through to issued-for-construction, coordinating architects, engineers, consultants, and internal teams to meet schedules, budgets, and Switch standards.

This role requires strong design management, technical judgment, and proactive risk mitigation across multiple complex projects, with turnover and closeout support.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in design or construction project management.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design packages.
• Knowledge of data center or mission-critical facility design.
• Ability to travel and work off-hours.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple design projects from concept through issued-for-construction documents.
• Establish project design scope, objectives, deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design activities across electrical, mechanical, civil, structural, architectural, and telecommunications disciplines.
• Manage consultants, engineers, and design partners to ensure quality, schedule adherence, and contract performance.
• Lead design review meetings and coordinate stakeholder comments and resolutions.
• Review drawings and specifications for completeness and constructability.
• Ensure designs meet codes, permitting, and Switch requirements.
• Support data center expansions, retrofits, upgrades, and capacity growth projects.
• Review proposals, scopes of work, schedules, and fee estimates.
• Identify risks and develop practical mitigation plans.
• Maintain design logs, document control, and turnover criteria.
