Job summary

Salas O’Brien, Inc. is hiring a Data & AI Product Engineer to build and support data pipelines, models, and AI-enabled features for our Lakehouse platform.

You will work closely with a product manager and fellow engineers to deliver practical, reliable data solutions and scale them over time. You will contribute to meaningful product features, follow established practices, and help bring ideas from conception to production in a hands-on role.

Qualifications

• Three+ years in data/AI engineering, analytics engineering, or software development.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with production-grade code.
• Experience with a cloud data platform and distributed data processing.
• Familiarity with version control and code review processes.
• Understanding of data modeling and data quality fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate data pipelines on the Lakehouse including ingestion, transformation, QC, and monitoring.
• Develop product features from requirements through production with testing and documentation.
• Create ML or generative AI components to support the product roadmap.
• Follow platform patterns and engineering standards, participate in code reviews.
• Investigate defects, address root causes, and communicate progress to the Product Manager.
• Add instrumentation to measure usage, reliability, and performance.
• Collaborate with business users to clarify requirements and shape practical solutions.
• Maintain clear documentation for components and workflows.
