Job summary

SouthState Bank is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer I to help operate and optimize our security controls. You will monitor logs, investigate events, and respond to tickets to keep our systems secure and compliant.

The role requires at least two years of cybersecurity experience, an associate degree or equivalent, and certifications such as GIAC or CompTIA. You will work with a collaborative team, support on-call rotations, and contribute to risk mitigation in a financial environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Information Security, computer science, mathematics, engineering, or closely related field.
• Two (2) or more years of direct Cybersecurity experience, preferably in a financial institution.
• GIAC and/or CompTIA certifications are preferred (e.g., GSEC, GCND, Security+).
• Strong security mindset and familiarity with financial sector regulations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor logs and security devices; interpret activity to leadership.
• Investigate anomalous activity and serve as first responder for security events.
• Maintain configurations for security tools and perform on-call support.
• Assist in vulnerability assessments, pen tests, and security audits.
• Participate in incident response planning and execution.
