Job summary

Cogent Biosciences is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to join its growing legal department. The role supports strategic transactions, research collaborations, services agreements, and other legal needs as the company scales commercially.

You will draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of agreements while advising internal clients on business objectives and compliance. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel, you will collaborate with commercial, medical affairs, research, clinical

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one US state bar.
• 5–7 years of legal experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry, preferably in-house.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex agreements across research, development, manufacturing, and commercial functions.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage confidentiality, master service, SOW, sponsorship, consulting, clinical trial, vendor, collaboration, licensing, and sponsored research agreements.
• Provide business-focused legal advice across commercial, medical, research, clinical ops, and finance functions.
• Monitor changes in laws and regulations and advise on regulatory and legal matters affecting arrangements.
• Coordinate with data privacy and develop contract templates, playbooks, and training materials.
• Lead negotiations and advise senior stakeholders in a fast-paced biotech environment.
