Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a Trade Compliance Specialist focused on Country of Origin determination to ensure products meet CBP and international trade rules.

You will assess origin, perform classifications, and collaborate with legal, procurement, and logistics to maintain compliant documentation and processes. The role requires 2–4 years in trade compliance, strong Excel and data-analysis capabilities, and the ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years experience in trade compliance or international trade.
• Strong COO determination methods knowledge (substantial transformation, tariff shift).
• Familiarity with HTS classification and trade agreements.
• Excellent Excel skills and data analysis.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret regulatory language.
• Effective communication to collaborate across departments.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
• Up to 10% travel within North America; passport required or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Conduct COO determinations per laws and CBP regulations.
• Apply substantial transformation and tariff shift rules.
• Ensure origin marking and labeling compliance.
• Analyze trade regulations, tariffs, and agreements.
• Collaborate with procurement, logistics, and legal.
• Maintain documentation for COO determinations and compliance.
• Conduct audits and maintain supporting records.
• Provide training on COO requirements to internal stakeholders.
• Monitor regulatory changes and update procedures.
• Participate in trade compliance projects and initiatives.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
