Job summary

Mercor is seeking a Fluid Dynamics and Convection Stability Physicist (PhD) for a remote, short-term contract (8–10 weeks).

You will tackle research-level problems to enhance AI model reasoning, design and solve complex convection issues, and produce verifiable results using LaTeX, Python and Jupyter. Strong publication track record is expected. This role requires English proficiency at B2+ and the ability to collaborate asynchronously to meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• PhD in fluid mechanics, applied mathematics, mechanical engineering, or closely related field.
• Published work on convection stability.
• Verifiable publication record with three to five representative papers.
• Working proficiency with LaTeX, Python, and Jupyter.
• English at B2 or above, including written reasoning.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate research-level physics problems in your subfield to enhance AI model reasoning.
• Design and solve complex problems, ensuring solutions are verifiable by specialists.
• Review and audit completed work to maintain high standards of model outputs.
• Collaborate asynchronously to meet deadlines and improve AI model performance.
• Utilize LaTeX, Python, and Jupyter for problem-solving and documentation.
