Mercor is seeking a Statistical Physics and Thermodynamics Physicist (PhD) for a remote, short-term contract to support AI model reasoning. Compensation is $80–$110 per hour.

The role runs for 8–10 weeks, with a commitment of 10 hours per week, and requires a PhD with publications and proficiency in LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter, plus English at B2 or higher. You will work asynchronously with AI teams to deliver peer-verified results.

Qualifications

• PhD in statistical physics, mathematical physics or a closely related field.
• Published work on specific phenomena listed in the research areas.
• Verifiable publication record with three to five representative papers.
• Proficiency with LaTeX, Python, SymPy, and Jupyter.
• English at B2 or above.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate research-level physics problems in your subfield to enhance AI model reasoning.
• Design and solve complex physics challenges, ensuring solutions are verifiable by peers.
